Dear panic sufferer,

The causes and symptoms of panic attacks are tied together however its manifestations are very similar with those of other physiological illnesses and conditions.

Worldwide at least 5 to 10% of the healthy population experiences at least one panic attack during life time. But because of its similarities with other diseases as long as symptoms go many live with this disorder for months or even years without knowing what are they suffering from.

The question of causes and symptoms of panic attacks is addressed in this post as well as what are the efficient treatment methods today. Enjoy!

What are panic attacks? A short incursion behind the panic scene…

Panic attacks are triggered by irrational and/or catastrophic thoughts and interpretation of body’s internal sensations and changes, which are otherwise normal. I guess a schematic would make it more clear, so here we go!

internal sensations/physiologic reactions => thoughts and interpretations => emotions => build up physiological reactions and sensations => thoughts and interpretations ……..

This vicious cycle builds up to the maximum in about 10 minutes and lasts for usually half an hour. A panic attack “burns out” by itself due probably to the body’s habituation process or to understanding the internal reactions and sensations as having no harm consequences.

Studies and practice have shown a vulnerability to panic attacks in sufferers who tend to be anxious, who have a rigid and inadaptable way to think about what happens with them and around them.

These are the causes that determine certain symptoms so let’s talk a bit about them as well.

A panic episode usually triggers symptoms like very fast heart rate (the racing heart sensation), difficult breathing, choking sensation, nausea, vomit, dizziness, stomach pains, chest pains, headaches, drowning sensation, numbness, depersonalization and fear of death being the most usual ones.

What are panic attacks associated with?

Besides the psychological and physiological vulnerability, there are a number of substances and bad habits which can precipitate a panic attack, like alcohol and caffeine abuse or sudden withdraw, narcotics, sudden stop of anxiolytic medication.

What can be done about the causes and symptoms of panic attacks?

Today the majority of panic sufferers are treated only with drugs. This is a shallow and unrewarding approach because it addresses only the symptoms and it leaves the causes untouched. However medication is advisable when patient’s stabilization is needed or to ease distress.

The causes and symptoms of panic attacks are of psychological root therefore the best modality to address and treat panic attacks is through psychotherapy, cognitive and behavioral therapy, or CBT, being the most efficient and fast to treat completely panic disorder and panic attacks.

To wrap this up, panic attacks and panic disorder are not a physiological illness but rather a psychological disorder caused by certain so called irrational thoughts and evaluations we make about what we feel and what we experience inside our body.

We talk about a natural treatment for panic attacks when trying to find some kind of remedy to treat them and prevent their relapses. Symptoms of panic attacks are very similar to those of medical diseases, like heart, lung or stomach diseases. However panic attacks are psychological disorders and natural treatments are especially suitable to treat them.

The “natural treatment” phrase is used with the meaning of employing natural ingredients and/or substances, and/or the engagement of treatment techniques and procedures which involve no medication at all.

For panic attacks there are a number of supplements and teas with therapeutic effects like magnesium, B vitamins, calcium + D vitamin, chamomile tea and linden flower tea. These have a calming effect on the brain and especially on amygdala, the fear center of the brain. However using only these suplements and teas panic attacks will not be treated because they are not caused by an organic disease but is the effect of the patient’s way to think and evaluate his internal body sensations. Psychologists call this type of thinking irrational thinking, catastrophic thinking, anxious thinking, unadaptive thinking or disruptive thinking. These terms define a thinking way that for the case of panic attacks means that the subject evaluates its body/internal sensations to be much more dangerous and serious than they really are. Yet most of the panic sufferers will have no heart attack and will not suffocate although they think that a higher pulse and a difficult breathing necessarily means a heart attack or a serious heart disease.

So the main cause of a panic attack can be found in the way one thinks about his or her internal sensations. The best solution is to change that irrational kind of thinking into a more rational and realistic one! That’s the real natural treatment for panic attacks!

Today’s psychology has reached to a point where it can provide answers and therapy for panic attacks. The most efficient type of psychotherapy is cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT. It has the ability to address these irrational thoughts and change them into rational and realistic ones. CBT is not only a set of theories and practices which intervene and change the way we think, but it is rather a set of principles and thinking pathways that everyone can use and apply in everyday life in order to live a happy, contented, efficient and fulfilled life. That is a very powerful and efficient natural treatment for panic attacks!

The best advantage of CBT is that anyone can use its tenets as natural treatment for panic attacks without the need of a psycho-therapist and long therapeutic sessions as long as the sufferer have access to this information and knows how to apply it.

There are only a few excellent and efficient courses on internet that use CBT as natural treatment for panic attacks. These programs have a success rate of up to 96.7%, healing 150,000+ sufferers combined all over the world! For more information about these programs and about panic attacks click this link More Natural Treatment For Panic Attacks!
